Merry Christmas

Catherine continues the family tradition of reading the story of the first Christmas from Luke 2 to the children.

May the Joy of Christmas fill your heart today and always.

Merry Christmas!

December Snow

It started to snow around 10 PM on Friday night.  It snowed all day on Saturday and into the night.  The news people's map displayed our county as pink - which means we were having blizzard conditions most of the day. Our unofficial measurement was around 22 inches, but since our yard is full of little dips and hills, maybe it was more or less.  Who knows?
On Sunday morning, I had to run out and see what it was like.  It was a sunny, crisp morning.  The snow was really too deep for me to play in - over my head in some spots, so I just grabbed a few pics and headed back indoors! The last picture is what our house looked like before the rest of the family did some serious digging out.  The little path is what had been shoveled out on Saturday night for the doggies to walk around.

The Two Month Rompers

A long time ago, Susie (Petite Ai Raphael) and Leah (Lati Green Special Coco) each picked out fabrics to make 2 rompers - one for Fall and one for Winter.  The Fall rompers were completed pretty quickly - before October was over, but it took another month to get the Winter ones done!  The pattern was from the  Fashion for Small Dolls  book.

Here are some pictures:

Susie had an identity crisis and changed her hair to an auburn color and back to her original blond!

What to Do on A Rainy Day

Friday and Saturday have been very wet, rainy days.  Some of the elves decided to make some changes.  Chloe went for a total makeover.  Here is her before picture from July 4th:

Here is Chloe's after picture.  She discovered that the wig that came last week that the companion who asked for it didn't want suited her just fine.

Sarah got her bangs trimmed.  It might be hard to tell in this picture, though.Melody got into the clothes trunk and pulled out a nice sparkly dress to play dress ups.  She doesn't care that it is 42 degrees outside and rainy - she is having fun!

Newest Baby Sister

We began the adoption process on July 6th, but she didn't leave Korea for the USA until September 16th.  She arrived on Saturday via special mail carrier (who went to both our neighbors before he figured out our long driveway!).

Her name is Becky, and she is a Lati Yellow Byurl.  Her sisters loaned her a dress, a pair of shoes and some hair so that she'd be presentable for photos.

Here are the three little Lati sisters.  While all are the same size, Becky seems so much more petite!  She is definitely the baby of the family!

World Doll Day...

Wendy: Wow, it looks like the clouds might finally be going away.  Maybe I can go outside and play with my bunnies...

Wendy:  Hi, did you come to see me?

Wendy:  This is my bed.  I can kneel on it and look out the window.

Amy:  Hi, I'm Wendy's sister, Amy.  And this is our kitty, Koko.  He likes to look out the window, too.

Wendy:  I really like my room.  I'm going to put up some posters and get a nice comfy rug to sit on when we play dolls with our dollhouses.

Amy:  Hey, that sounds like a fun way to spend World Doll Day!  Let's play dolls!

Wendy:  Okay, we can go outside later.  Come see us again sometime, okay?

Amy:  Right, come back soon.  Until then, Happy World Doll Day!

Wendy's Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday was chore day - laundry, cleaning and running around.

Sunday was nice, patriotic church service.  Grandma, Granddaddy and Me-me (great-grandma) came over for cook out.  Grandma looked at my new dresses Mommy made me, and told Mommy I needed to wear patriotic dress.  We watched Night At the Museum.  I liked it a lot, especially Rex and Dexter.

Monday was rainy day.  We went to mall to see M's mosaic box she made in Crafting class on display in glass case with others from her class.  We went to book store, too.  Ate dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise - Daddy had a gift certificate from last winter! We tried fried dill pickles, but liked sweet potatoe chips better.

When I climbed out of Mommy's purse, I had very fuzzy, messy hair.  I will need to wear other hair for going out next time.

Breezy Honey Trees

by:  Wendy

See trees in back of me?

Wendy climb little tree.

See fuzzy, hungry caterpillar.

Blue sky, clouds and big, big trees.

Trees smell like sweet honeysuckle.  You see little, white flowers?

Windy bring cluster of white honey flowers to Wendy!

Mmmmmmm - flowers smell sweet, just like me!

New Hair

Jen is always on the lookout for the perfect purse.  She's had a lot of them come and go.  In January, she found one that she's really liked and is actually thinking that in the fall, she'll get the same one in different colors. For me, finding the perfect wig has been a challenge.

Some girls who live here find the perfect hair from the very beginning.  Nothing else works.  I haven't been that lucky - until now.  I liked my strawberry reddish blonde curls, but they were hard to take care of everyday.  I liked the last wig - a brown Lati wig, but the color wasn't quite right.

Then, one night, we were looking at a new friend's photos on the web.  An unexpected wig arrived with her, that looked nice on her, but she never really got attached to it - she was more of a wild, curly hair kinda girl.  But we knew it was exactly what we've been looking for!  Before anyone else could have the same idea, we wrote to the companion and said "if you decide to sell it, please let us know" - and the deal was done that night!

I'm thrilled with my new hair.  I think it suits my coloring and my style perfectly.  What do you think?

Sunny Sunday

Yesterday was unusually warm for February!  We think the ground hog got the forecast wrong because it will be in the 50's most of this week, and yesterday it was 65!  We took the dogs outside on the 25' leash to play fetch.  They loved it.  I sat on top of the grill to avoid getting tripped or knocked down!

When the dogs were tired out, I looked for signs of spring.  I found that the Autumn Joy sedum are beginning to grow again!

Then I climbed a tree in the yard and enjoyed the sunshine and warm breezes.

It was a wonderful day.

Trying A New Look

Jen and I tried ordering a new Roxie wig, but the color I wanted was out of stock.  So, we looked through the box of wigs that we have here.  I found this Lati wig and thought I'd give it a try.  It is brown, but has a touch of red in it.  So, what do you think?

I've been wearing this new outfit that I got from Miss Connie last summer.  The blue pants have snowflakes on them (I'll have to show you sometime).  I'm hoping that I might get to see a little bit of snow soon.  I'll let you know if we see some!
